The Dome Hide has all the features you want in a hide. I've put together the things I've been asked for over the years of running Wildlife Watching Supplies® and my own wildlife photography.

The hide is 1.3m (4' 4") square at the base and 1.35m (4'6") high at the centre. This gives plenty of room for one person and a stack of gear. (Large Dome Hide (C.30.1): 1.5m (5') square base, 1.49m (nearly 5') high at centre.)

Quick to put up. Just thread the two Aluminium flexipoles through, and then hook the ends into the brass eyelets at the corners.

  • The hide is free-standing, but in strong winds the guy ropes and pegs provided can be used. Guy rope loops are also on the inside of the hide. These can be used if you want to move the hide while you are in it.

  • Windows - One main front window and two side windows. The front window 35cm (14") x 26cm (10") has a material flap, scrim net and insect net. The side windows 15cm (6") square have a material flap and net. All the windows are large enough to put a long lens through. There is also a tripod flap at the front. (Large Dome Hide (C.30.1) has a larger front window.)

    Central back flap with overlap, Velcro tabs and tie cords (lens can be put through the flap between the Velcro tabs).

  • Made from proofed and breathable material in Camouflage pattern, Advantage Timber pattern or All Purpose Snow. Also available in Desert pattern (not proofed) or New Khaki Camouflage (not proofed) - perfect camouflage for arid regions where the background environment is lighter (ideal for southern/south eastern European regions).

  • Folds down to fit in a bag 50cm (20") by 18cm 7" dia. and only weighs approx. 3.1Kg. including the two aluminium alloy flexipoles and pegs. Light enough and small enough to fit in your rucksack or suitcases. (Large Dome Hide (C.30.1) weighs 3.7kg)

    Our Dome Hides have been built to last. The best materials have been used and sewn together with an industrial overlock machine to give added strength. High quality nylon webbing peg loops and nylon guy ropes used. The pegs and poles are high tensile aluminium, these are very strong, but extremely light - an important factor in designing and building a hide. Our Dome Hides are sold worldwide, and we have materials for all seasons and climates including snow and desert patterns.

    I made a log feeder to attract the birds. From the hide which is 4m away it just looks like a small tree. As the log feeder is moveable (metal spike) you can place it where you have the best light for the time of day that you are in the hide.

    This Dome Hide has been in place for over eighteen months and has been through the wet and windy weather of 2001/02. The natural shape of the dome hide allows the rain to run off and be aerodynamic in the wind.

    There are no flat tops to puddle or square sides to act like sails. I check the hide and guy ropes every couple of days when I top up the bird feeders. Over the time the hide has been in place, it has kept it's weather proofing. The poly-cotton material used is ideal as it is proofed, breathable and rot resistant.

    Customise Your Hide

    Extra Options to Customise Your Hide

    I designed our Dome Hides for my own photography many years ago. I knew the size and height of the hides I wanted. I experimented with the position of the windows and came up with an optimum design. Over the years, we have supplied many Dome Hides to photographers, film and TV companies including the BBC. We do make up specials to customer's requirements i.e. larger windows for broadcast cameras.

    We have now added some extras/options to our online shop to help you customise your Dome hide -
    · Larger side windows to match the front window size. Left & right (when sitting in the hide). You can choose both, so all three windows are the same size.
    · Zip back door (heavy duty zip with flap) in place of the tie cords and Velcro tabs.
    · Extra window available for the C30 std and C30.1 large dome hides - we will presume that you want this on the front panel below the main window (this will replace the tripod opening). If not, please let us know.

    Our C31 Mini Dome and C31.1 Long & Low Dome have ground sheets built in. If you regularly use your dome hide on uneven ground, then a Dome Hide with pockets around the base may be more suitable. We now have the option to choose which you prefer on these two hides.

    We design the Dome hides in our workshop in Devon and make them from top quality proofed and breathable poly-cotton material - now you can customise your Dome Hide when ordering from our online shop.
